Q. So you have a dancer, is that a question you will get asked?
A. And I want to make sure that I can. This is a very difficult thing for somebody who is trying to move at the top level and really want to move like an athlete. So what I have tried to do is understand what I need to work on and get more efficient with my movement techniques.
Q. Are you ready for tonight?
A. Yes, because I really don’t know. We are all just so nervous. I’ve lived with this, I know I have to do my best tonight. This is one thing I do know: I have to win. I don’t have to do it with 100 percent confidence, but I do know what I have to do to do my job at the top level. This is the biggest night you could ask for as an athlete.
Q. When you talk about your technique, do you mean with your fingers?
A. Yeah, because my fingers are all the way down to the elbow. I’ve always been the guy who was on top of those guys, always trying to catch them to the ground, to get underneath them. And I haven’t gotten any ground because of that. My technique has never changed. It’s just that the body has. It’s just my body has grown stronger and my technique has changed over the years. So now it’s not that big of a deal. My fingers still play that big part in the way I get off balance. So I’m still doing everything I’ve always been doing, but for me, I just think it’s different with my technique.
Q. Any plans to do more tricks after tonight?
A. I’ve always wanted to do a trick after I finish an hour and a half of music. I’m getting that ready for tonight, so maybe I’ll do a trick a little early.
