I’ve tried a lot of things, including the usual methods like hip hyperextension, tuck squats and leg swings and these have failed me each time. I’ve also found that many people with bad form in their abs are unable to get back in the air properly. It feels as if there is a bit of static on their hips and the movement gets harder as they try to get their hips through the top of their stance… I can’t find an answer for you. You say you’d go somewhere but you can’t. I love how you’re so comfortable with this because it doesn’t look bad. The problem is that it means that you are sitting in the same spot and it will take some work to get out. It’s almost a requirement that you’re in the same position when you first get the belt and it’s a pretty big deal to step out and move in either direction. Once you do, your hip mobility and core strength will be fine and you can relax and enjoy the workout. Once you do it without the belt, is it so much harder? I personally have no problem at all with it, I just worry about the impact on my hips and how they interact with the belt. I’ve never found that having the belt on causes more pain than without. You say you’re trying to get your hip mobility to a place where you can do side to side and then to a position where you don’t use the belt or it’s an uncomfortable position. I’d agree. This is what I’m going for, it gives me confidence and I’m not about to go sit down and rest on a chair for a day just to get some hip mobility work done. At first I had problems and I had to force myself to do it, I just couldn’t get it. Now it’s so natural and I’m not afraid to keep pushing and I don’t have to feel guilty. I have no doubts that it’ll work and then I won’t have to do it over and over again so that I have something to look forward to. I’d say that my results have been better without the belt because it gives me confidence and doesn’t take away from what I’m doing without it so that I’ll feel comfortable to move later on. Again, you’re right, the extra weight has done me more good than harm.
