In her article, she says:

“When I was a young woman growing up, a 1950s flapper dress seemed to fit perfectly. ‘I never got tired of putting on make-up and getting dressed up when I went out. No one thought the woman in them was going to be wearing makeup when you got back!… You could see through their dress to the woman behind them.'”

Well, she’s wrong.

To be honest, I don’t think those are the clothes I’d wear a 20th century woman in, but they still provide a fairly accurate idea of a 1920s fashion. For instance, the photo at the top of this article is the top of a 1940s, mid-length dress. Those have really big, flared shoulders, and I imagine that those would look amazing worn by a 20th century flapper.

Let me explain a little further.

In her article, she talks about being bullied at school, and how her mother “couldn’t tell the difference between ‘tacky’ clothing and real clothing.”

This is a really good example of a 1920s style, even if her mother didn’t wear it.

Now, let’s put this to the test. Do I think that, “I never got tired of putting on make-up and getting dressed up when I went out. No one thought the woman in them was going to be wearing makeup when you got back!…”

I don’t think there’s any difference in my opinion between wearing makeup, and having a real-life mother.

How you dress (or don’t wear makeup) is, of course, entirely up to you, but you can still make some good arguments for wearing makeup to be a part of 1920s style.

I think that, in terms of the 1920s style, all you really have to look at is the look of many 1920s-style women.

You’re certainly looking at a woman who has the same hair and dress as 1920s flapper models.
