Can you give me a good advice on where to begin learning?
The first step is just to be with the music. If you listen to a record or you listen to a song on iTunes, it seems like there’s a ton of ways to learn it. If you go to a record store, you can order something and it will teach you a lot about how it was made, how it came together, what was going on. So there’s this kind of free version of music—but it may not be what you want to sing, or have fun playing with, and it may take you a couple weeks and two or three sets of guitar practice to really get to the next level. Maybe you learn the chorus and you go over it ten times. Maybe it’s two or three days of lessons. A lot of people don’t even get there, let alone go over it in time.
The second thing you can do is listen. A lot of the stuff I hear through the radio I wouldn’t even remember hearing in the first place if you hadn’t listened to it. Even if it’s something very familiar that you hear the first time, it can help change your perception of it.
