Can you really learn piano online? – Quick Way To Learn Piano Chords

Well… I mean, it’s technically possible. There’s this amazing online music learning site called Eletronica which is like a bunch of people in their free time who are playing the same piece of music over and over and over again. It’s a wonderful tool for learning music, and I absolutely love it. The only issue is that their website requires I guess a credit card, but the actual program, free, works just as well, even if you still have to pay a little bit for a premium version. So even though they do offer all the information you need in one place, I don’t know if I would recommend signing up, I mean, that’s really up to what you’re willing to pay for. But they are one of the coolest things I’ve heard in a while, so check them out!

What is your favorite music you saw that you had never heard before?

Well, for many years, I would watch video of people playing classical piano in the clubs and cafes. For the longest time I thought it was just all fake, but then you start actually hearing it and hearing good improvisations. It’s just incredible, and it doesn’t require much time to learn, which is another reason not just to get it, but to love it! I think the next best thing to classical piano is any other rhythm instrument, and that’s exactly what I like, jazz. There are so much more ways to make up a melody than just a chord or a major or minor scale, and it’s all just a bunch of sound and timing all rolled into one – kind of like a jig. But because it’s just sound and timing, it doesn’t require hours of learning.

Any particular favourite piece?

“Frog in the Glass Window” by Peter Gabriel

A good example of improvisational jazz.

That is my favourite. The sax player plays some great parts, even though they’re improvised, and I’ll say, for all intents and purposes, it’s a piano concerto, except his voice is playing through the sax!

Do you have any other favourite musicians?

Oh my god, I love Phil Manzanera. I think you don’t need to have a huge knowledge base to go out and try something new just because it seems like a cool guitar player or some stuff. I mean, I’m not a big fan of rock bands and stuff, or classical musicians, and I haven’t been, but I like
