Is guitar harder than piano? – Learn Piano Free Kids

I’ve been told: yes! “I’m the drummer so therefore I’m the hardest instrument you can play”; or, “All the lads are playing keyboards because keyboards are harder; therefore all lads are hard”.

And to further explain: “The sound you hear is from a guitar being hammered.”

I do not like this description of all sorts of instruments; they sound like things people used to play with. If this explains why people say, “I can’t play the violin because it is so difficult,” then maybe “people say, ‘I have never played piano because it is really, truly, absolutely hard'” is also true.

I am a hard-playing pianist. For the next three weeks, I will attempt, with the utmost sincerity, to prove my case.

On the second Monday of every month, I’ll be up again, trying to play at least a quarter of my planned set. I think the only possible way I can play more than two hours of it is to be drunk and not play. This would require some serious self-control. No. I would not be able to play a quarter of my planned set for three weeks, and I certainly can’t do it before the end of the month.

So, now you know. I have spent months and weeks trying to get better at piano, and for the third year in a row, on the eve of Christmas Day, my violin skills still can’t be compared with those of the most accomplished pianists in the world, not even in my own country.

On Christmas Day, I should be celebrating. Not for any new gifts, not for any new songs, not for any new ideas, just for me. To be able to play at least a quarter of my set, and maybe more—that would be enough.
