DX: How do you go about getting those kind of artists to see songs that you’ve written—the ones that aren’t necessarily popular as far as sales-wise?

K-Dot: They don’t see those songs unless someone comes to me with a demo of a song that someone wrote the way they wanted to have a song sung, as they want to have a song sung, and then it’s just getting me in touch so they can get out there. It’s funny. A friend said, ‘You’re the only artist that’ll get me to put my name in front of a singer.’ That’s not true, I don’t get that kind of money, but I get those artists. But, you know, the only way I can do that is if I have an album that I’m proud of, that I want to go in front of a certain amount of songs, and if they put that song on their own album, and it gets played back to them as a bonus track…I’ve got enough to be like, ‘Yeah, I can do this too.’ And, as long as people are willing to pay for the songs I put out, it’s been fun to put the album out.

DX: But do you expect to sell a million records next year, like you’re being talked about right now?

K-Dot: I can’t say. I don’t know where the numbers are…But what I’ve heard is, ‘K-Dash, we got three more records coming up. I want to make sure they’re going to be some kind of hits.’ I don’t know if that’s fair. I hope so, but I can’t say.
