Drake has 2.44 million digital singles and 1.85 million albums sold, according to the label.

It’s unclear where Jay Z’s sales are coming from, if there’s any market for his music. The label’s roster of artists includes such heavy-hitters as Jay Z, Meek Mill, Beyoncé and Ludacris. Many of those artists have also taken turns putting out hits, like Jay Z’s “All of the Lights” (which has sold just over a million copies), Jay Z’s “R.I.C.O.” (1.44 million), Meek-Liz’s “Bored to Death” and Ludacris’ “Still Brazy.”

The label’s first hip-hop release was 2012’s Jay Z-produced “Dirt,” which came out in April, the most recent release to be available on iTunes for pre-orders. Drake launched his album from scratch in May.

“It seems like Kanye has been on his way to being the richest white rapper,” said Jeff Deeney, an assistant professor of music studies at the University of Central Florida, who studies the cultural history of hip-hop music. “But his biggest success has been with white consumers.”
