How much money should you be paying in property taxes? That’s how much your homeowners’ association should be paying. There’s a lot of money hidden here.
That’s what a new report from the Texas Tribune shows.
According to the Tribune, the report shows that the cost of homeowners associations in the state has tripled in just one decade.
So, what is an association?
An association is your homeowner association. Your association is the people you choose to represent you in your monthly homeowners taxes. Your association manages the finances of all the member’s properties. If there are homeowners in a neighborhood, that homeowners association pays for maintenance and repairs to help keep your properties in good health.
The average annual charge that homeowners’ associations in Texas pay is $723. If you own two homes you’ll pay $1,852 if you own one home and $1,800 if you own two homes. If you’re paying your own property taxes, the average homeowner association charge is $1,892 per year.
