What are you saying you’re not dancing?

Don’t you know that is really the whole point of dance?

Don’t you know that you’re just sitting on your ass?

How do you know that was a good performance?

Because you didn’t look at the camera.

What are you doing in the picture?

What is dancing?

I know nothing about dance…

Are you even watching what I’m doing?

You didn’t even try.

Let’s not dance around the questions I just asked…

Are you not dancing?

If you didn’t do it, you’re lying.

Dancing isn’t about the performer, it’s about the audience too.

You don’t know the words, you don’t know the music or the look on somebody’s face.

It starts with making yourself vulnerable, then the audience sees you for who you really are and you’re forced to play dance around the questions.

It doesn’t matter if you’re in a dance hall, or on a bus or a train. It’s the question that starts dancing.

A performance is a series of steps:

A dance performance in itself never changes.

This means you don’t understand what you are doing – unless you understand it for yourself.

You only dance based on your thoughts, not on the dance itself, and you cannot see a performance until you hear the finished song.

When you dance, you aren’t “looking” at what you’re doing, nor does the audience see what you’re doing.

If you “are really there and you’re moving”, that “is not dancing”.

You’re acting.

You are only in the shoes of one or two people standing for no apparent reason at a given moment.

You’re just standing there, you’re not dancing.

How does that work?

If you really want to be real, try dancing out a performance first.

You’ll come to know what you can and can’t do. You’ll see that you aren’t really as good as you think you are.

You’ll see that you need to practice more.

You’ll see that you can’t expect a high score if you are just going through the motions.

You’ll realise that you’re simply not as good as you think you are.
