YES! Rustoleum spray paint, and its products, can be used with or without fabric. Some fabric will be the easiest to dye if you use Rustoleum. However, other fabrics can be dyed quickly and safely, but should not be dyed with Rustoleum spray paint. Remember, Rustoleum can only be used with fabric for the first few dye cycles.

Can I add fabric to the fabric-dye cycle?

YES! We understand that some customers use fabric as a way to color two colors. In such cases, your fabric dyeing should be continued until you end your fabric dyeing cycle.

To do so, we suggest that you use a special fabric dyeing fabric that is completely dry before adding the fabric to the mix, and then add the fabric to the first step. We also recommend that you add a layer of fabric to your fabric-dye process from the start so that your dyeing cycle will begin with the first color, instead of a second color.

Can I use my own fabric dyeing mix?

You are free to mix your own fabric dyeing mix if you wish, but be aware that it might take time to create your own mix. We also strongly recommend that you use our Rustoleum Fabric Dyeing Mix, as it contains all the ingredients that are used in our Rustoleum Fabric Fiber Dye Kit.

Can I use fabric in a “no” color?

Absolutely! In this case, we will add a layer of fabric over the fabric-dye ingredient, and use that fabric on your fabric.
