Lack of physical activity may result in protein wasting. It’s very common when you lose or gain weight with respect to physical activity that it is not enough to compensate for the loss in muscle mass or the protein loss. This can happen because of two reasons.

First, when we lose muscle mass with exercise, it increases the number of protein molecules that we lack. This causes the body to produce less of these important amino acids. This is why you can get low protein energy dense diets. Second, physical activity (or lack thereof) may be limiting you in the activities you take up. As you lose body weight, muscle mass may decrease, which can affect your levels of vitamin D and calcium, causing calcium retention and osteoporosis.

Vitamin D plays an important role in calcium absorption. However, you still need adequate vitamin D, so you may not absorb enough. When you have low DMRD, you can expect to lose significant amounts of calcium from your bones. This causes the absorption of calcium to be reduced. Even though your bone is not broken down, the absorbed calcium can have adverse effects on your bones. Many people are concerned in this area because it is a possible cause of osteoporosis.
