We are so used to looking at ‘weight loss for breakfast’ and ‘weight loss for breakfast + dinner’ because it is the most popular recipe you hear all morning.

I don’t really know when and who first developed this popular breakfast. The first and simplest recipe that comes to mind is probably something called ‘Breakfast Oatmeal’. This is probably the one that most people remember, and probably the most popular, because so many people are used to eating this combination.

There are obviously many variations of an oatmeal breakfast, and each has a different flavour to it. One of our very favourite oatmeal recipes is my own ‘Nutty Oatmeal’ or ‘Nutty Oatmeal & Chocolate’.

But then there are many others. For example, my friends and I get together for breakfast, and every week they have these oat ‘breakfast sandwiches’ which are really very good.

I don’t want you to think we have forgotten about breakfast! There is no substitute for eating something healthy. What I do want you to eat is healthy, wholesome ingredients which you can easily find at any grocery store or health food store. Don’t forget the peanut butter!

How do I know I’m eating a healthy breakfast?

It all depends on who is looking at you. Many people have a habit of thinking that a healthy breakfast is just milk and peanut butter, but this is an assumption that many people make.

I personally do not think you are eating ‘healthy’ if your ‘breakfast’ consists of milk and chocolate. It is possible to be healthy if all you eat is healthy foods, but I think it’s healthier to eat healthy foods which contain nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and fibre.

Whole foods are often more nutritious than processed, ready-cooked foods because these foods are often cooked before they are eaten – for example, oatmeal made with brown rice is often more nutritious than oatmeal made with instant oats.

I have noticed that many people prefer oatmeal made with white rice to oatmeal made with oat flour. While it may be a good idea to eat oats made with either type of oat flour, you don’t need to stop eating whole foods. If you use whole grains, eat them with other healthy foods.

I have had many many wonderful mornings of healthy oatmeal and breakfast sandwiches. It is very rare for my morning has gone well without lunch.
